Task 12: Thinking Of A Concept/Final Idea

Final Idea

Our first step towards making our opening sequence was to make a mind map of our very first ideas for a scene.

This is our mind map:

We originally had the idea of a prom themed coming of age film but after discussion and watching previous students work we decided to look into a sub genre of horror for our opening sequence. Making a mind map was useful because it meant everyone got to put there ideas and and discuss which everyone liked best and which idea we thought would work well. We were also able to get an overview of the sort of genre and explore our most interesting ideas in more detail. In the end we decide that a coming of age film with the usb genre of horror was our preferred idea.

We recorded our first ideas and discussions about our opening sequence:

This is a power point of our first basic horror genre ideas.

Mood Board For Our Opening Sequence:

Our  Developed Ideas:

We took inspiration for our opening sequence from the show pretty little liars in particular the scene where Spencer has flashbacks to her experience in the dollhouse.

We want to recreate the idea of flashbacks in our opening sequence we like the effect of the slightly green and distorted image used in the scene to help distinguish between the two different times and to add a sort of sinister/ eerie feel to our sequence.

Learning Comment:
From doing this task I've learnt the importance of thorough planning and making sure I have a clear idea of what I want from the final product and where my ideas are heading. Additionally, extra planning helps to find new inspiration which allows original ideas to be changed and developed into a new and clear plan of the final product and allows you to add your own ideas onto old ideas and develop them into your own new idea or storyline.
